Boicut
Biography
Boicut, who does not want to give his civil name, first studied printmaking at the Grafische Academy before starting a degree in graphic design. Graphic elements are still a central theme in his work, not only aesthetically but also in the production process. For canvases, for example, he usually first creates digital sketches, which he then transfers to the canvas.
His classic pastel shades of pink, light blue and turquoise have become his trademark, for which he preferably uses highly pigmented acrylic-based paints. These are characteristically fast drying, lightfast, opaque and very brilliant.
True to his nature of not wanting to be pigeonholed, Boicut also does not allow himself to be restricted to one medium. For example, he also produces the designs of his works on garments and ceramics. He also created a large-scale sculpture for Art Miami. For the 2022 exhibition "Samples of Sanity" at Galerie Ernst Hilger Ballgasse, he produced a 40-minute film among his object works and canvas.
Boicut first worked with Galerie Ernst Hilger in 2013 as part of the exhibition "Cash, Cans and Candy" in HILGER NEXT.
