Asgar/Gabriel
Biography
The name Asgar / Gabriel refers
to an artist duo. Daryoush Asgar, born in Tehran in 1975, and Elisabeth
Gabriel, born in Vienna in 1975, have been working together since 2005.
Together, they create series, paintings and sculptures. Their entire oeuvre is a
joint project in the truest sense of the word.
Everything that is visible on the canvas is painted. The supposed graffiti traces were created with a brush, a artistic style unique to them is evident.
Asgar / Gabriel are interested in metamorphosis, letting their depicted figures merge with objects, a symbiosis is created that rises above time and reality. As they do so, they are often inspired by literature and other art forms.
